One of my favorites, and one that I support every chance I get is Feeding America, formerly known as America’s Second Harvest. If you have never heard of them, it is because they don’t waste valuable donations on advertisements. This is one of the best run, quietest charities out there. To put it simply, they gather “spare” groceries from the huge chains and get them to the food banks. They help distribute these items among the various food banks and help them get grants.
