In this time of celebration, please help others!
There are a lot of simple things you can do that will help your neighbors in times of dire need, and you don’t have to go out of your way or spend a fortune. One of my favorites, and one that I support every chance I get is Feeding America, formerly known as America’s Second Harvest. If you have never heard of them, it is because they don’t waste valuable donations on advertisements. This is one of the best run, quietest charities out there. To put it simply, they gather “spare” groceries from the huge chains and get them to the food banks. They help distribute these items among the various food banks and help them get grants.
Painless ways to help — buy Hallmark Thanksgiving Cards at your favorite local outlets. Hallmark will donate 1% to Feeding America.
Pillsbury is encouraging people to share the warmth of home this holiday season by supporting Feeding America.
